Created by the always informative C.G.P. Grey, this video uploaded December 2012 breaks down the intricacies surrounding the nomenclature and territories of the small European nation.

Fun Fact: Just when things start to make sense, the very first verse of Wilhelmus, the national anthem of the Netherlands contains the lines:

"...ben ik, van Duitsen bloed" -- "am I, of German blood" and

"...den Koning van Hispanje heb ik altijd geëerd."  --  "The king of Spain I have always honored."

I guess I'll Neder understand it.
