1927 Solvay Conference in Color

Source: pastincolour

From the initial 1911 Solvay Conference in Belgium, the names of the invitees have been a who's who of the scientific world, with the brightest minds coming together to discuss the world of physics and chemistry. The photograph above shows the participants of the fifth meeting held in Brussels, the 1927 conference which would trump them all.

Of the 29 attendees, 17 of them would become Nobel Prize winners; a cursory view of the last names giving insight to the familiar names of so many scientific institutions, measurements and phenomena we have today.

Colorization of the above photograph performed by Swedish artist Sanna Dullaway.

Fun Fact: Marie Curie, the only woman present, would go on to win two Nobel Prizes in two different scientific fields, the only scientist in history to do so.
